Bessie’s is a small, York-based business specialising in award-winning, homemade artisan chutneys, jams, and both savoury and fruit vinegars. We craft each batch using the traditional open-pan method, giving our products their distinctive flavour and character. With a variety of ingredients and flavour combinations, our creations are designed to make your taste buds tingle.

Exceptional customer service is at the heart of what we do — we always go the extra mile to ensure you’ll want to come back for more. The ethos behind Bessie’s comes from my grandmother. Our shared love of food has been woven into our family heritage since my earliest years. Growing up in Pateley Bridge in the Yorkshire Dales, nothing was more special than sitting beside her in the kitchen, surrounded by the bounty of her garden, and watching it transform into something delicious. Those moments — steeped in Yorkshire tradition and flavour — inspire every jar we make today.

Inspired by my Nan, “Bessie,” and my childhood on our family farm, I grew up helping her in the kitchen — whether she was baking pies, making preserves, kneading bread, or stirring jam.
